Composite Tooling
Composite tooling or moulds are produced to create the final shape in a layup process such as GRP or carbon fibre for example or be part of the process to trim excess material off using a trimming fixture. Using the LFAM Hybrid 5-axis milling machine we can deposit the material rapidly creating the near net shape leaving just the right amount on be machines away to create the final ‘A’ surface profile required.
With the speed of deposition of the base material, almost zero waste with full recyclability of old tooling creating a green eco circle this new method of manufacturing tooling will help companies achieve better sustainability.
Examples shown here are early stage examples, more tooling examples will be added as we progress with the new LFAM technology creating even smarter tooling for in and out of autoclave environments.
